My Culture in what I do; Japanese Shibori Print Project

Following on from one of my previous blog posts about Shibori dyeing for a support module I just did, these are 7 of the 17 final samples from the project.
I added an Indian touch to the project... you might be able to visually see it.
They are all hand screen printed and dyed with other print processes added on top like discharge, embroidery and Shibori itself. I made some tassels as well as used ready made ones to decorate the samples, that I brought back from India.

This is personally my favourite one. On the left I attached 3 samples I did and then attached tassels to the bottom of two circle prints to make it look continuous but 3D with the round print.
On the right I did the same, using 3 samples and then bordered the edge and back with scrap sari fabric I got from India and made and ready made tassels.

The tassels on the bottom of the sample furthest down (above) are all beaded and handmade. It was time consuming, but I love how they have all turned out!

Although this is upside down, I used ready made borders and attached tassels I made and printed onto to. The same underneath I think works well with the range of colours and shapes as well.

In this sample I attached a discharged tassel to the last sample as a continuation of the print used in the sample.

I have found working on this the module, the most rewarding in terms of developing my skills in such a short period of time, working consistently and hard throughout it and producing, what I think is my best print work yet.

Altogether there were 17 samples, of which I have show 7, some of my favourite samples are not shown, but I may after some time, because of my future idea purposes.
