Pattern Magic and TR Origami cutting

During reading week through Uni, I decided to experiment with new techniques of TR cutting and pattern construction that I could use in the upcoming project. I tried to do everything myself and am very pleased with the outcomes, considering it actually turned out okay, although it could still be improved further! I think teaching myself how to further advance my skills after learning the basics in my course will be a strength going forward.

I would also like to share these techniques with you
Here is how I did it:
TR Folding Origami bodice
1.Construct a simple bodice front with darts on sides or bottom
2.Being to make in panels in a turned square meeting the darts and separated into 4 sections

3.Smooth and perfect the lines
4.Label each panel and its contents 1, 2, 3, 4
5.Begin to cut the panel, leaving the side part
6.Take 2 x 4cm strips of paper and attach to the strip panels until you reach the middle meeting point

7.Pin to fabric and cut out leaving 1cm around the edges

8.Take folded fabrics and sew across each panel
9.Then attach each panel of the bodice together

10.Press seams

The origami bodice didn’t go very well as I made an error in the folding and stitching. Since I know what went wrong, I can improve this.

Interwoven bodice style
1.Mark symmetric lines on paper bodice with darts in it and lines meeting darts

2.Make sure there are 3 main lines through the bodice from left and right

3.Following the pattern magic book handout cut and measure accordingly
4.Pin onto fabric

5.Pin onto mannequin and drape as wish
6.Hand sew or baste and then machine stitch in place

7.Press

(My toile is only hand stitched to see what the outcome would look like)
