Illustrated Chick: Sandra Lucia Diaz

I met Sandra Lucia Diaz online on Instagram. I can't even remember how I met her but it was around the time I was doing my A Levels (2012/13). She is a Miami based artist and fashion illustrator who I admired the work of so much! Her work is very unique and she also cites a lot of inspiration from the runway for her drawings. She sent me personal tutorials and gave me advice on fashion illustration, since this is one of my weak points and has helped me a lot since!
Her work is based on drawing images around fashion, in a number of different medias. Her illustrations are even loved my musical artist Pharrell.

A couple of years ago, she bag printing her prints on phone cases and I bought one made by her a while ago and had it on my phone the entire time! Just yesterday, I was lucky to receive a surprise parcel from her in Miami that I really wasn't expecting. It was lots of phone cases for my phone with her illustration all over them, as well as an illustration print! It was a really thoughtful gift!

I highly recommend you to check out her work at Illustrated Chick. There you can not only view her blog for competitions new illustrations but you can even see the process of how they are made. Similarly, you can also view all of her latest work and ideas on Instagram (recommended). I find it amazing how she blends, draws and adds shadows to make her illustrations look very realistic!
She is certainly a huge source of inspiration for me and I am so glad to have met her online!
